Tripophon is a band of four individualists whose diverse influences form a very unique sound: A blend of Garage, Punk, Country, Bossa Nova, Krautrock, Electro, Funk and Jazz without the result being a mere patchwork or retro chic. It rather reveals an unaffected love for music and sensitiveness for details. Using their studio in Ilmenau, Germany as their headquarters, Bernd Papenfuss, Jan Rohden, Martin Dausel and Renke Kunst delve into experimenting with different recording techniques using an exquisite array of sound equipment, which makes the studio look like a museum for vintage organs, synthesizers, microphones and amps, including a pedal steel guitar and old Amigas and C64s. Tripophon take the listener on a ride through different times and places that seemed forgotten or only present in the subconscious.

Their extraordinary live shows often feature selfmade post-psychedelic super8-footage and slide shows. Tripophon´s album debut on Schinderwies The Sheriffs Lady Was A Polka is a vinyl-only edition of early recordings, which gives a good insight to Tripophon´s musical heritage. Hits like Fun Fun Fun, Lara or Perfect Day are still highlights in their live set. Their newest recording is I Was A Stranger, a cover as part of the (tribute to smog) split 7" with _Radio Magenta (keplar), featuring Mawe (Mikrofisch) on vocals. The shimmering, spheric sound of the pedal steel combined with sparse electronics is the introduction of a new genre: Countrytronics.
